Breast Augmentation
It seems from the plastic surgery post, that the majority of us on this blog would opt for breast augmentation, myself included, as something we would like done under certain circumstances. My question is this: Do you think you would want augmentation if it weren't so prevalent in our society today. In other words, if this were 20 years ago, do you still think you would want it? Do you feel pressure to have perky, full breasts because it seems that almost every other woman has them?

For me, I would have augmentation 20 years ago or even now for the simple fact that mine are ginormous!!!! They hurt my back, get in the way, prevent me from wearing shirts that are my actual size and look flattering, and the list goes on and on. Mostly they hurt a lot and cause a lot of problems.
10:03 - I think what you are wanting is reduction. Augmentation means to make bigger.
I am a Mammography tech and have handled thousands of boobs and I am all for girls getting reductions and I think girls should do it sooner then later. I have also talked to alot of ladies who have had implants for 20+ years and the majority wish they wouldn't have got them. I think the stuff they use now in implants are better and look more natural. I would go for saline because they feel better and if they pop then the saline just gets reabsorbed into your body whereas silicone will stay in your breasts forever! Just a little thought for someone who has seen and handled all sizes and shapes!
To the Tech: Do you know why the majority wish they wouldn't have gotten the surgery? I'm thinking about it and would love to hear both sides.
I am pretty darn secure with my size B, as it is proportionate to my body, but I wouldn't mind a C. The only reason I would NOT get augmentation is because I would worry that people would judge me and think that I am self-centered and vain.
I am definetly planning on getting a breast augmentation within the next year. I'm curious now though: one of my friends who had it done 3 years ago got saline and wishes she would have gotten silicon. Any guesses as to why she feels that way?
I'm getting an augmentation because I had a 34 C before having kids, and now I have a deflated B cup. It's not porportionate to my body and I feel extremely self conscious, with and without my clothes.
I don't feel society is pressuring me to have full perky boobs... I just want the boobs I had 4 years ago.
I too hear that silicone is the way to go. I know several people that have saline and wish they had gotten silicone. I know one person who has had both and has saline now and says she is FOR SURE going with silicone when she gets them redone!
Interesting!!!
I'm the tech- I think the reason most ladies want silicone is because they stay harder and in turn perkier(sp?) longer which is good but the key word is harder. Most ladies who have them and wish they didn't is because they went too big with their implants or they have developed scar tissue around their implant that makes it feel like a rock in your chest. I myself am planning on getting a breast lift after I am done having kids and will more then likely need implants but I definitely would not go over a C. By the time you are in your late 50's your skin will not be able to hold but your breast and I don't want big saggy fake breasts!
I don't feel like I'd want them because everyone else has them, I want them because that's what I had before I had kids and that's what makes me feel the sexiest when I'm naked with my husband. (Though he'd never say a word about it.) I just want what I had before I had kids, maybe one day...
