worried
As of today, I'm two weeks late on my period (YIKES!) I took a pregnancy test last Wednesday and it came back negative. What is going on? I went off of birth control last month because of some medical reasons, but was careful with my husband. I was pretty stressed at the beginning of this month but that has never stopped my period (it actually usually makes it start early). Have any of you just not had a period one month? Or received a false negative on a pregnancy test? I keep trying to tell myself that it's fine and I shouldn't worry but I want to know. If I am pregnant I want to start taking my vitamins/ eating healthier/ giving my baby a healthy start.

I think you're paranoid. false negatives are definitely common, but two weeks of not taking vitamins isn't going to ruin your child. calm down and wait another week or two and take another test.
First off, you're not paranoid. It just sounds like you are wanting to give you're baby the best advantage possible.
Secondly, I got a false negative when I got pregnant. You can take another test, go to the hospital to get blood drawn, or just wait. In the meantime, pretend you are pregnant and don't take any medications etc... until you know for sure.
You said you went off of birth control last month. That means that your cycle is still very likely entirely screwed up. This may be an anovulatory cycle, or you may have yet to ovulate this cycle. It could take as long as six months before your cycles return to normal.
If you're two weeks late and your pregnancy test came back negative, then you're probably not pregnant. The simplest thing to do would be to take a second test. If it also comes back negative, then you are almost certainly not pregnant.
I wouldn't say you're being paranoid, but I would say that you might be overreacting just a tad. Take a breath, take another test, and then take it from there.
Just eat healthy and take vitamins, regardless. That way, you're covered either way.
This question is asked about once a week, so you could look up the past posts and read all the comments.
I completely skipped the month of February and I'm not pregnant. My period is just crazy.
I'm with Benjamin. You will likely take a few months for your cycle to regulate again coming off of birth control. In the meantime, however, if you are not using any hormonal birth control, you should be taking prenatal vitamins, because you could get pregnant. Getting enough folic acid (which helps prevent spina bifida) is especially important really early on, often before women even realize they are pregnant.
@12:18...it might be more accurate to say that the question is asked about once a month, or once every two months. However, when it doesn't apply to you, you don't pay attention. It's also hard to find past instances when the post isn't always titled "I'm late for my period. Am I pregnant?" but rather "HELP!!!" or "Late..." Give her a break.
This happened to me...I was actually the OP for one of the months prior..I went to the doctor and was told I was not ovulating for whatever reason. I took numerous tests after the first missed month and all were negative and was given a prescription to "kick start" ovulation again, but was told I could start it when it was convenient. Lo and behold, three months later, I am indeed pregnant. So either way, if it's just because you aren't ovulating, be careful in the mean time. You never know when you might start again...I wish you luck!
It took me about 3 cycles after going off birth control to get back to normal. I was 2-3 weeks late each cycle, and I've always had extremely regular cycles. I never was pregnant. It wouldn't hurt anything to start taking some prenatals and start eating healthier and all that jazz anyway though. I took prenatals MONTHS before I ever got pregnant. Yeah, don't worry about it...I'm sure you're fine.
