So I found out last week that I was pregnant. (Like everyone else it seems). I started bleeding this past Monday. I am lucky enough to work at my Dr.'s office so I went to him right away. Because I am not going through a pad every hour and I am not having really bad cramps there is a good chance that it is not a miscarriage. However we wont know until next week when I am 6 weeks. That is the earliest that I am able to have an ultrasound since they wouldn't be able to really see or hear anything until then.
The Dr. is saying that it could be implantation bleeding and that can be common during your first trimester. I am curious to see how common this really is. So far from friends conversations it happens more then I thought.
So my question is: How many of you have had bleeding during your first trimester? Did you end up having a miscarriage? Was everything ok?
I am not asking if I should go to my Dr. and be worried ( I have already done that). I just want to see how common it is. Thanks!

I've had it during my last 2 pregnancies. Everything turned out fine.
I've known of people who have had it, but both of them have had to take extra progesterone in order to keep the pregnancy. I'm not trying to scare you, but I would ask the dr about that for sure.
I have heard of that happening, I know someone who bleeds during her whole pregnancy. I miscarried twice right at 5-6 weeks. I hope you are ok!
I've had two miscarriages. One at almost 12 weeks, the second one at 5 and 1/2 weeks. I've also had two sucessful pregnancies resulting two gorgeous baby girls. While pregnant with my second daughter, I bled most of the first trimester. About 6-7 weeks. It was heart wrenching every day. I couldn't wait to get to the doctors office each appointment to confirm everything was still okay. The only thing you can really do is wait. I've also heard many friends who have gone through the same thing. Some doctors recommend pelvic rest. Mine did, but it was hard with having a toddler around. You can't really stay still with a toddler to chase after. Hope everything works out for you.
I bled for a day or two with my second pregnancy right at the beginning.
I just had my baby so obviously things worked out fine!
My MIL bled for the first two months with all her pregnancies, and carried all the babies full-term.
I spotted a little on my second child, had an ultrasound around 8 or 9 weeks and everything was fine.
I've had spotting during two of my four pregnancies. The first time it got worse and resulted in a miscarriage. The second time it never worsened and gradually tapered off. I ended up with healthy twins. Good luck!
I know a girl that bled, from the sounds of it, about the same amount as you, and everything turned out fine.
I bleed (bad) when I was eight weeks along. It turns out that I did miscarry, but I was pregnant with fraternal twins. So one of them made it (I'm due any day now) and one was miscarried at 8 weeks.
Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out. I know it is so devasting to lose a baby, even if you are barely pregnant. Let us know the results.
I bled at 8 weeks and miscarried right away. My next pregnancy, no bleeding and carried to term. I have a friend that bled throught the 1st and 2nd and carried to term.
OP- Thank you everyone for being nice in your posts. As I am sure most of you notice that doesnt always happen.
I will keep you updated. As of this morning the bleeding has stopped!!! YEAH, but my appointment isnt until Tuesday afternoon. So I have to wait a couple more days. The Nurse at my Dr.'s office said that it is good that is started to turn brown and that it has almost stopped.
Also because I never bled REALLY bad (a pad every hour) and didnt have cramping really except a tiny bit the first day, there is hope.
Thanks again everyone. It was a little comforting to know that it was more common then I though.
i bled twice for a couple of weeks each during my first trimester... it was pretty bad and he made it through just fine... that's part of the reason i didn't know i was prego for 3 months!
I started bleeding at 5-6 weeks and it turned out to be a "chemical pregnancy" where basically, you WERE pregnant at some point, but something just didn't quite stick. It's not technically a miscarriage since the fetus was too young.
The bleeding turned out to be me starting my period.
It's all so nerve-wrecking! I hope it all works out for you.
