I was the 2nd poster. When I came back later and noticed it was under my real profile I was totally mortified. Yes.. I deleted it because it was completely humiliating. I will post my answer again however because I think it might still be valid.

When for some reason my underwear chaffs me, I get red and sore on my skin just like you described. Honestly, I do use my baby's diaper rash cream and it clears it up over night. I put it on just before bed because you wouldn't want to wear it in public and smell like that stuff. As long as it isn't actually IN your vagina, then the cream shouldn't hurt it.

I'm so embarrassed. I hope none of you know me in real life. At least I DON'T live in Utah!

Just a caution - if monistat doesn't work, you can try clortrimazol. (I can't use monistate, it burns) If you do need to see a doctor, I think Planned Parenthood may be a little less expensive than being a new patient to a doctor.

Sounds like a yeast infection to me, too. Start with monistat and see if that helps. If that doesn't clear it up, you need to go to the doctor because it could be bacterial vaginosis, which would require a prescription. Sorry you're uncomfortable. That's no fun.

I thought that when you had a yeast infection you also had a weird discharge with it. Mine has been completely normal this whole time. Does that not always happen?
The "weird underwear" were just some old panties that I had that are all stretched out and huge and they don't fit tight down there. It made it rub weird. I don't know how to better explain that, but I've since thrown those ones out!

This sounds like a classic yeast infection. I just got my first one a few months ago, and was freaking out! I thought I had a diaper rash too...:S So weird.. But definitely sounds like a yeast infection. Once get get on Monistat, you'll start feeling much MUCH better! Goodluck! It's miserable.

Well if you think there is even a remote possibility it could be an STD, you need to get to a doctor.

Otherwise it sounds like a yeast infection to me. Make sure you get lots of air on it - after showering lay on a towel nude for a while with your legs spread if you have to. Eat lots of yogurt, drink a lot of water, and get something like Monistat. Good luck!
